As the June 4 Primary Election in New Jersey approaches, the Atlantic County Superintendent of Elections is reminding residents of the upcoming May 14 deadline for voter registration.
“Voting is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of democracy,” states Maureen Bugdon, Atlantic County Superintendent of Elections and Commissioner of Registration. “Your vote is your voice, and registering to vote ensures that your voice is heard. It’s crucial for all eligible residents in Atlantic County to register by May 14 to participate in the Primary Election on June 4.”
Residents already registered to vote play a role in election efficiency, as well.
“If you’ve moved within the county, experienced a name change or want to update your signature, please take the time to update your voter registration,” says Superintendent Bugdon. “These changes and others can be implemented quickly and help ensure little or no delays when it’s time to cast your ballot.”
“The fastest way to reach our office with new or updated voter registration information is online through www.Vote.NJ.gov,” notes Deputy Superintendent of Elections, Audrey Miles.
Online voter registration in New Jersey has been in existence for several years with registrants only needing the last four digits of their Social Security number or full driver’s license number and a smartphone, computer or tablet.
“We encourage all eligible residents of Atlantic County to register to vote and participate in the upcoming Primary Election” states Bugdon. “Our Mays Landing and Atlantic City (County Office Building) offices will be open late and we welcome your questions and participation.”
Per New Jersey law, the office of the Atlantic County Superintendent of Elections will offer extended hours of 8:30 am – 9 pm on Tuesday, May 14 for in-person assistance with voter registration matters.
