‘From Ragtime to Swingtime’ with the Vintage Jazz Band

The Vintage Jazz Band performs a “From Ragtime to Swingtime” concert at the Somers Point Senior Center, 22-98 North Ambler Road in Somers Point, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday,  September 8th.  Admission is free; seating is limited and available on a first-come basis. This musical tour of American popular song from 1910 to 1940 includes such classic tunes as: I Double Dare You; I’m Sittin’ On Top Of The World; Always; A Big Butter & Egg Man; East of the Sun (and West of the Moon); Java Jive; On The Way to Cape May; Who’s Sorry Now; Night & Day; Goody Goody and more! Band instruments include guitars, banjos, clarinet, alto saxophone, upright bass and drums, as well as a female vocalist.

Since forming in 2012, the six-piece Vintage Jazz Band has performed similar concerts at public libraries located in Margate, Ventnor, Ocean City and Egg Harbor Township. They have also played the N.J. Veterans Home in Vineland; the Port-O-Call Hotel in Ocean City; the Margate Senior Citizens Pavilion; Kennedy Park in Somers Point; municipal rec centers in Ventnor, Absecon, Marmora, Galloway Township and Hammonton; assisted living facilities such as Wesley Manor and Seashore Gardens; and over-55 communities in Egg Harbor Township. 

The band members and their instruments are: Seth Briliant (banjo and tenor guitar); Ed Willis (guitar and banjo); Andrew Ehrhardt (clarinet and alto saxophone); Mark Anderson (upright bass), John Ragan (drums); and Janney Murtha (vocals).
