Five Ways to Get your Christmas On This Weekend

Danielle Davies

If you’re one of those people who waits all year for Christmas season to begin, we have good news for you — your time has come. This weekend marks the unofficial start to the season, so  once the last of the Thanksgiving dinner has been cleaned up, the relatives have gone home and the leftovers have been places in the appropriate takeout containers, it’s game on. From Atlantic County, all the way down to the Wildwoods, there’s something Christmas-y to do, and there’s no time like the present. After all, the season is only a few weeks long. Here, five ways to get your Christmas on bright and early this weekend.

  1. DO The Wildwoods The Wildwoods have been entertaining Cape May County for decades. From Monster Truck rallies to Country Music Festivals, The Wildwoods know a thing or two about fun. So be sure to head down there for one of their holiday weekend events. This week, there’s a Family Holiday Beach Bonfire 5 to 7 p.m. Friday; Christmas in North Wildwood Friday through Sunday; and an Outdoor Shopping Village Saturday. Each event features loads of family fun and plenty of memories in the making.  WildwoodHoliday.com
  2. Put your Gingerbread Skills to the Test Think your gingerbread building skills are up to a challenge? It’s not too late to participate in the first-ever Noyes Arts Garage Gingerbread Village Competition! The theme of the competition is Atlantic City buildings or monuments, past or present. Last day for entry forms is Nov. 29. Creations will be on display at the 2023 Noyes Holiday Market and Gingerbread Village throughout the month of December and prizes will be awarded! Time to get your baking on. ArtsGarageAC.com/Gingerbread-Contest-2023
  3. All Aboard the Santa Express Head into Tuckahoe or Richland and hop aboard the Seashore Lines for the 28th season of their Santa Express, a whimsical ride aboard a real locomotive decked out for the holidays. Enjoy the 75-minute round-trip ride with Santa and his helpers, and rediscover the magic of Christmas. Operating every weekend from the Saturday after Thanksgiving until Christmas. Need more festivity? Wear your favorite Christmas jammies on the Santa Starlight Express on select weekday evenings and start a new family tradition. The-Santa-Express.com
  4. Explore Christmas Fantasy with Lights You could spend the day after Thanksgiving amongst the crowds vying for Black Friday sales, and we wouldn’t fault you. Or, you could spend it seeing Santa light up Storybook Land with his magical wand on their first Friday of the season, when they are open from 2 to 9 p.m. Bring the kids and watch their faces light up at the thousands of lights, guaranteed falling snow, or visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus. It’s an unforgettable holiday experience. StorybookLand.com
