We get it – Halloween was just a few days ago and already we’re talking about ways to satisfy your sweet tooth. But sometimes, mini KitKats and Reese’s Cups aren’t enough and we find ourselves craving sweets well after we’ve hung up our costumes. So if you still find yourself in the mood for a creamy sweet treat or a scrumptious baked good, who are we to judge? Here are five places to head to for some tasty treats, no tricks required.
- A La Mode Ice Cream Parlor
Established in 1979, A La Mode Ice Cream Parlor in Ocean City has been around long enough to become an Ocean City family tradition. With sundaes, splits and a la modes galore, A La Mode is an obvious stop in the middle of summer vacations. And the fun isn’t over yet. Despite limited hours in the off-season, A La Mode offers takeout orders of their homemade ice creams to keep your freezer full of goodies all winter long. Hurry, though: The last pick-up date is Nov. 11. Heads up, a 50% deposit is requested at the time of ordering. A La Mode Ice Cream Parlor is located at 301 55th St., Ocean City. See ALaModeIceCreamParlor.com.
- Lindy Hops Homemade Ice Cream
A ‘50s-themed ice cream parlor, Lindy Hops Homemade Ice Cream is another iconic ice cream venue, this one located in Galloway. Open 7 days a week until Nov. 18 (don’t panic, they reopen in March!), Lindy Hops has loads of flavors including some serious seasonal indulgences like Apple Pie, Harvest Moon (pumpkin with marshmallows and pecans), Pumpkin, Ginger, Gingersnap Molasses ice creams and even dairy-free Pumpkin. Lindy Hops Homemade Ice Cream is located at 401 S. Pitney Rd., Galloway. See LindyHopsIceCream.com.
A “Best of the Press” winner many times over, Chester’s Bakery has been dealing in sweets for 60 years. The legendary Somers Point bakery features everything from donuts and donut holes to cakes, cream puffs, cookies, pies, sticky buns, Danishes and more. Just walking within its vicinity is a feast for the senses. Chester’s Bakery is located at 506 New Rd., Somers Point. See Chester’s Bakery on Facebook.
- The Original Jagielky’s Homemade Chocolates
Jagielky’s has been dishing up handcrafted — and scrumptious — chocolates for more than 40 years. With candy recipes developed by George Jagielky of Philadelphia and passed down to Mike Carr of Ventnor, the chocolates made at Jagielky’s are the real deal. With a menu of small batched, authentically made chocolates — including creams, fruits, caramels, fluffs, peanut butters, nuts and more — Jagielky’s is perfect for holiday gift giving, Thanksgiving dessert chocolates, or simply as a way to indulge in your sweet tooth. Jagielky’s is located at 8018 Ventnor Ave., Ventnor; and 5115 Ventnor Ave., Margate. See JagielkysCandy.com.
- Fitzpatrick’s Deli & Steakhouse
While Fitzpatrick’s is known for its amazing deli sandwiches, chicken salad, breakfasts, lunches and dinners, listing them here is not a mistake! The “Sweets” side of their menu, which includes things like tapioca pudding, scrumptious chocolate chip cookies, carrot cake and more, also has some seasonal specials like house-made pumpkin pie and apple cheese strudel as part of their Oktoberfest menu. They are delish. Fitzpatrick’s is located at 650 New Rd., Somers Point. See FitzpatricksDeli.com.
