Cruising for Al Fresco Dining Options in the Region

By Marc Berman

Dining restrictions in New Jersey have been loosened up a bit as of June 15th, with the addition of Al Fresco (Open Air) Dining.

Restaurants can now serve customers while keeping social limitations in play, tables 6 feet apart and masks suggested while entering and exiting.

I took a drive around Ocean City, Somers Point, Ventnor and Atlantic City to view some of the configurations for outdoor dining, beginning at 6am in Atlantic City at the Tennessee Ave Beer Hall.

At 6am they cut a ribbon and the first two patrons entered and started with a beer which was the first pour at the beer hall since mid March and today could have been the first pour in the state.

I drove to Ventnor where Annette’s on Dorset Ave had tables and umbrellas set up in their parking lot.

After a short drive over the Ocean City bridge, we saw Augie’s Omelette and Waffle House and Jon and Patty’s, both offering outdoor dining. Continuing our drive around a very busy Ocean City, we came across,Spadafora’s Seafood, which also had outdoor seating. We then swung by Ready’s with seating for customers on the side of the building.

Back over the Ocean City Bridge to Somers Point which also has its share of traffic we stopped by a favorite,  Fitzpatrick’s Deli and Steakhouse, who have taken a large part of the parking lot for seating. Don’t worry, they have additional parking across the street.  Sal’s Cafe had tables set and ready in front of their restaurant and Gregory’s Restaurant and Bar also had tables alongside their restaurant.

Back to Atlantic City and we found that Vagabond has outdoor seating and an entirely new outdoor area to chill, eat and imbibe.

Enjoy the relaxed limitations and continue to use common sense, wear a mask, stay six feet apart and if you are not comfortable going out, stay home and order in.

Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Stay Sane.
