“OCBP edges the Crest, Avalon for lifeguard title” was the headline in the July 10, 2013, Ocean City Sentinel. The article reported, “The season-opening Cape May County Lifeguard Championship went to the Ocean City Beach Patrol for the second time in three years.” Ocean City’s Dylan Kosten (pictured) won the singles rowing race; Brian Pasternak won the rescue board race; Jeff Garbutt and Matt Garbutt placed third in the doubles rowing race; Mike Kell place third in the swim race; and Frank Brady placed third in the run/swim event.
The 38th annual Cape May County Lifeguard Championship will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 6:30 p.m., on the Rambler Road beach in Wildwood Crest.
