The Cape Atlantic Coalition for Health, in partnership with Shore Medical Center, announces a free six-week workshop, Cancer: Thriving & Surviving, designed for all cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers. The workshop will be held at Shore Cancer Center every Tuesday, 4:30-7:00 pm, beginning September 24 and concluding October 29.
Cancer: Thriving & Surviving was developed by Stanford University and is designed to empower those affected by cancer—whether newly diagnosed, in active treatment, or living beyond it—with the skills and confidence to manage their health and maintain an active and fulfilling life. The sessions are interactive and participative, focusing on building mutual support and success among participants.
Participants will explore a range of topics crucial to navigating life with cancer, including:
• Cancer-related challenges: Learn techniques to manage fatigue, pain, isolation, poor sleep, and living with uncertainty.
• Setting priorities and achieving goals: Find out how to set and reach personal goals that enhance your quality of life.
• Nutrition: Gain insights into maintaining a healthy diet during and after treatment.
• Effective communication: Improve communication with family, friends, and healthcare professionals.
• Treatment decision-making: Understand your options for treatment and complementary therapies.
• Exercise: Discover exercises that are appropriate for regaining and maintaining flexibility and endurance.
This workshop is ideal for anyone dealing with the concerns, thoughts, and health conditions that can accompany a cancer diagnosis. Caregivers are also encouraged to attend, as their participation can provide valuable support and insight.
In addition to the invaluable knowledge and skills gained, all participants will receive a complimentary copy of the book Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, a resource that will continue to support them long after the workshop concludes.
Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. To learn more and to register, please call the Cape Atlantic Coalition for Health at 609-653-3923.
