Students and staff at Absecon Public Schools were treated to a surprise mini concert Friday by South Jersey Country Rock artist Kenny Curcio, who performed his viral Eagles anthem, “Philadelphia (Bleed Green),” in celebration of the Eagles upcoming Super Bowl appearance.
The halls of Absecon Schools have been filled with excitement this week leading up to the Eagles’ appearance in the Super Bowl 59 on Sunday. Marsh Elementary students have made posters and signs to hang on the walls and Attales Middle School hosted a door decorating contest for all the homerooms. On Friday, the entire school district was invited to participate in Wear Green Day or sport their favorite team jersey.
“Here at Absecon Schools, we bleed green for the Eagles, so having Kenny Curcio come to help our students and staff celebrate was a great way to continue that excitement into the weekend,“ said Absecon Superintendent Dr. Daniel J.Dooley.
Curcio’s most recent single, "Philadelphia (Bleed Green),” has taken the airwaves by storm, earning spins on 92.5 WXTU, 93.3 WMMR, 97.5 The Fanatic, 97.3 ESPN, and also features on CBS Philadelphia, FOX29, NJ.com, SEPTA, Visit Philadelphia, and many more. The song has amassed over 500,000 streams and views across all social platforms—FB, IG,TikTok, and YouTube.
The unexpecting students at Marsh and Attales were called outside to the front lawn Friday to find a stage, covered in green and white balloons and adorned with Eagles signs and banners. Dr. Dooley introduced Curcio to the students, who were thrilled for the show, singing and dancing along to the song. Before leaving the stage, Curcio led the students in a rendition of “Fly, Eagles, Fly.”
Following Curcio’s performance, he toured Attales Middle School to take photos with the door decorating contest winners and the members of the Marsh Kindness Committee members, who served as the contest judges. The winners are: 8th Grade and Overall – Mrs. Carly Broomhead,
