Atlantic County Employers: Need Help Finding Summer Help?

Atlantic County employers who need help finding help for the busy summer months need look no further than the Atlantic County Workforce Development Board.

The Atlantic County Workforce Development Board will provide reliable, quality workers for employment between May and September at no cost to the employer.

Through the Summer Youth Work Experience Program, the Workforce Development Board is seeking to place 275 county residents, ages 16-24, with local businesses.

“This program has been extremely successful in helping employers find help during the busiest time of the year when many businesses are challenged by staffing shortages,” stated County Executive Dennis Levinson. “It is also beneficial to participating youth who gain valuable experience and knowledge, while earning a paycheck.”

Program participants have the opportunity to engage in work experience for an 8-week period with a broad array of business and industry sectors, including retail, hospitality, child care, manufacturing, aviation and engineering.

Participants are required to work 25 hours per week with the potential to earn $3,400. Funding for this program is provided through the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Employers have the opportunity to select their employees from qualified participants who will complete 25 hours training and 175 hours in-person work with the cost of wages covered by the program.

“It really is a win-win for all,” said Executive Director Fran Kuhn. “Employers get summer help and youth get summer jobs and experience that could potentially lead to permanent employment.”
