The Miracle on Asbury Avenue in Ocean City is held the day after Thanksgiving and is a heartwarming holiday tradition. This enchanting event transforms the bustling Asbury Avenue into a winter wonderland, capturing the magic of the season.
As you enter Asbury Avenue between 6th and 14th Street, you might think you walked straight into a Hallmark Christmas movie set, complete with Santa, Christmas carolers, horse and carriage rides, lights, elves and even a mailbox for Santa’s letters on the corner.
The Miracle on Asbury Avenue culminates with a grand lighting ceremony. Santa Claus emerged on the rooftop of City Hall. With the help of an Ocean City Fire Department ladder truck, Santa descended and lit both the Christmas Tree and City Hall as crowds cheered.
This beloved tradition not only brings joy to residents but also boosts the local economy, as visitors flock to shop and experience the enchantment of Asbury Avenue during the holiday season.
The holiday shopping event spanned 6th Street to 14th Street. In the evening, carolers sang on City Hall steps, to name just one of the many activities that built up to the evening’s crescendo.
