A wildlife photographer’s paradise sits right next to the Ocean City Welcome Center, perched on the Ninth Street bridge. A heron rookery in the cedars is easily viewed from the elevated parking lot. Glossy ibis come to the cedars along with many types of birds. It’s the black-crowned night herons and the yellow-crowned night herons that attract the most attention, with birders lining the railing with binoculars and massive cameras. Mornings and evenings see the most activity. The visitor center offers a free brochure to identify the birds.
