Going Places with Dina Guzzardo
This year’s Brigantine Food Truck Festival will take place the weekend of August 6th-8th
and will be hosted at the 38th Street beaches in Brigantine all weekend from 11 am. Featuring mouthwatering food from more than two dozen of the most delectable food trucks in the tri-state area, this is one event this summer that you do not want to miss. Admission is FREE and the city of Brigantines will not require beach badge fees for the area over the weekend.
The organizers have been teasing patrons in recent weeks with the vendors that will be present, and the bar has been set high by those announced so far. Mad Dog Morgan’s were the first to be announced, serving up a selection of classic and delicious sandwiches and burgers. Be sure to check out their range of cheesesteaks from the classic Philly Cheesesteak to their locally inspired Jersey Devil Cheesesteak, which features pepper jack cheese for a devilish kick.
Next up is Vagabond Kitchen and Tap House, a vendor who was featured on “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.” Their permanent location boasts 24 unique taps with a rotating selection of craft brews and wines, along with an award-winning menu with a wide selection of food to appease the masses.
For those with a sweet tooth, High Tide Treats will be on hand to provide an array of treats such as waffle pops, milk shakes, homemade sweets, jumbo chocolate chip cookies…I could go on, but I know you are already salivating. The food truck will be run by home baker, mom, and beach lover Kristen who developed all of the recipes from her home kitchen.
Haddon-based food truck and catering company, Just Fork It, will be serving from their outstanding food truck menu which features classics including an Italian Porker Slider and Truffle Brussel Sprouts, all using the freshest ingredients. They also create specials for each event, and I am sure that they have something special planned for this festival that will surely WOW the crowds.
With the festival taking place in the peak of summer, you will want to beat the heat with a shaved ice cup from Kona Ice of Haddonfield. This is not your typical shaved ice. One of their most recent featured flavors is the “Peace Love And PickeDillys”, made with dill pickles, shaved ice, cherry syrup, a sour shot, and Tajin seasoning. This is one you are going to need to try – sweet, salty, and refreshing.
Now, for those of you who are still set on that pizza you were promised, Buon Viaggio Mobile Wood Fire Oven will be there spinning some of the most authentic Italian pizza you will find outside of Italy itself. The pizzas are crispy, incredibly fresh, and all homemade. Now just imagine yourself on your beach chair with a fresh pizza and tell me that does not sound like the perfect way to spend your day.
For an extra serving of sweetness, two iconic treats will be served over the weekend. Probably the most Instagram-worthy cupcakes in the area from House of Cupcakes, including mermaid themed, moist vanilla cupcakes. Their vibrantly decorated cupcakes are sure to turn the heads of everyone in your family.
Additionally, Mannino’s Cannoli Express serve freshly made to order Cannolis, right in front of your eyes. They use only the highest-quality shells, imported all the way from Sicily, and were voted the top 101 in America in 2016/17. They say it will be the best Cannoli you have ever had, and thousands of their customers agree.
This is excitingly only a handful of those food trucks which will be in attendance, with several more yet to be announced. There is also going to be live music which will be announced closer to the date.
