Students make “donuts” for Tu B’Shevat

Students in preschool through grade 6 made healthy donuts from cored apple slices in a Tu B’Shevat cooking program at Beth Israel Sunday School. Shara Gadomski guided students in decorating their apples with cream cheese frosting, yogurt, sprinkles and other toppings. The students also learned how to say the blessing over fruit.

Some students tried their hand at double decker donuts.

Tu B’Shevat is a Jewish holiday that celebrates trees and the environment.

The fruit-themed activity was a great way to celebrate Tu B’Shevat, the New Year of the Trees.
