With just two weeks until the final HEROtini Happening event (where the HERO Campaign will announce the winner of the HEROtini Cup at Linwood Country Club), participants in the mocktail challenge have been organizing creative and fun events to help promote their entries, and their rank in the HEROtini Challenge.
Looking to boost their HEROtini: the “Berry Safe Sangria”, Tailgaters in Galloway hosted a Seinfeld trivia night on Tuesday, where patrons were encouraged to don their favorite puffy shirt, commence with close talking, and support their efforts in the HEROtini Challenge. Giddy-Up!
Sponsored by Salartash Surgical Associates and created by bartender Renee Bancheri, the Berry Safe Sangria mocktail is a perfect summer blend of strawberries and blueberries, inspired by the original beverage, but made “sans-gria” to ensure safe driving. Patrons at the event were encouraged to sample the mocktail as they answered five rounds of Seinfeld-related trivia questions, all focusing on the iconic show and its four main characters. And while voting for #27 was encouraged, double-dipping was not.
In addition to promoting the Tailgaters’ entry in the HEROtini Challenge, the event also benefitted the HERO Campaign’s “Holiday HEROes Safe Ride Program”, intended to promote one of the 31 mocktails in the HEROtini Challenge, and the importance of safe and sober driving.
Launched by the John R. Elliott HERO Campaign over Memorial Day Weekend, the HEROtini Challenge is a summer-long contest between 31 Atlantic County restaurants and bars, challenging each to create the best “mocktail” in celebration of designated drivers. Participating establishments have planned numerous events to promote their unique HEROtini, including an upcoming celebrity bartending event featuring Paul D’Amato of D’Amato Law at Margate’s Sofia on August 20th, from 6:30-8:30pm.
With the goal of significantly reducing (if not eliminating) DUI incidents in Atlantic County, The HEROtini Challenge is a donate-to-vote contest, the results of which will yield very tangible results for area residents and visitors, alike. The funds raised will support the campaign’s Holiday HEROES Safe Ride Program, providing free and safe rides home locally for patrons of participating establishments over the 2019 holiday season (from Thanksgiving Eve to New Year’s Day), to prevent drinking and driving.
The contest lasts until August 29th, when the ultimate HEROtini Challenge winner will be announced at Linwood Country Club, where the final HEROtini Happening takes place. The establishment to raise the most in donations will take home the highly coveted HEROtini Cup. Voting ends promptly at 8 pm.
