The interactive museum promotes nonviolence, peace and the philosophies of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In collaboration with The Gandhian Society and Ideal Institute of Technology—and with a half million-dollar donation from The Aditya Birla Group—a new interactive museum is coming to Atlantic City. The Eternal Gandhi Peace Center and Museum will be a replica of the Peace Center in Delhi. The pre-opening event, held over the holiday weekend on Sunday, October 9, invited guests to pay homage to the late Mahatma Gandhi on his 153rd birthday and featured Guests of Honor including Randhir Jaiswal, Consul General of India in New York; Nitin Mathuria, President, Aditya Birla Group; and Kenny Desai, President, Federation of Indian Associations.
Local leaders such as Assemblywoman Claire Swift, Assemblyman Don Gaudian, VP of Atlantic City Council Kaleem Shabazz, Atlantic County Sheriff Erik Scheffler, and ACPD Acting Chief James Sarkos, along with others, attended. The museum’s digital experience showcases the lives and legacies of M.K. Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. and features multiple exhibits including a timeline browser and examples of Gandhi’s writing and speeches.
Under the leadership of Museum Director and Founder of Atlantic County’s Ideal Institute of Technology, Ren Parikh, The Eternal Gandhi Peace Center and Museum, located at The Walk in Atlantic City, will be managed by youth enrolled at Ideal as a first step in Ideal’s career training program. The official opening date to the public is November 1.
