Peter Rivera, John Cafferty Highlight Free Wednesday Night Concerts on AC Boardwalk

One of the biggest free rock ‘n roll shows of the summer happens at Kennedy Plaza on the Atlantic City Boardwalk Wednesday, Aug. 10, when Peter Rivera, the multimillion selling Motown recording artist and founding member and lead vocalist of Rare Earth, performs his hits in a double rockstar super group with Grammy Award winner Paul Nelson from the Johnny Winter Band.

Hear Peter perform “Get Ready,” “I Know I’m Losing You,” “I Just Want to Celebrate” and other hits he originally recorded and performed with Rare Earth.

Jimi Hendrix fans will enjoy hearing the incredible Stanley Jordan, one of the world’s greatest guitarists, pay tribute to Hendrix on Aug. 17 before the party becomes funky with the “Man who taught the Blues to The Blues Brothers” Curtis Salgado and his multi-award winning band.

Curtis has been the Soul Blues Performer of the Year and has had the Best Soul Blues Album of the Year many times at the Memphis Hall of Fame following his role as the consultant on “The Blues Brothers” original movie in 1980.

After the Atlantic City Air Show on Aug. 24, at approximately 8 p.m., Tony Mart Presents INCA , the huge tribute to the great Carlos Santana, performed by Edgardo Cintron and his 10-piece Latin orchestra.

This will be the finest free post air show celebration on the Boardwalk: a Latin Mardi Gras dance party with one of South Jersey’s greatest Latin rock performers paying tribute to one of the greatest Latin rock stars of our lifetime.

The series closes out Aug. 31 with a “Wild Summer Night” featuring John Cafferty, with the wildly popular rock star who wrote the song, and the Beaver Brown Band. They will perform the original “Eddie and the Cruisers” soundtrack including the hits, “Dark Side,” “Tender Years” and “Wild Summer Nights” from the movie filmed in South Jersey 40 years ago.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. with a funky tribute to Dr. John, The Meters, The Nevilles and Allen Toussiant, performed by international funk star, Papa John Gros, in a double headliner concert serving as the finale to what has been an incredible season of free headliner shows.
