Students of the Ocean City Theatre Company will round out the 2022 Summer Season with their version of Shrek the Musical Jr. at the Ocean City Music Pier on August 26th and 27th at 7:30pm. This student adaptation features a cast of over forty 5th – 8th graders and is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation motion picture, fantastic Broadway musical, and book by William Steig.
It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale; Shrek Jr. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.
Shrek Jr. features music by Jeanine Tesori with book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abair. OCTC’s production is under the direction of a talented creative team comprised of Hannah Catanoso (Director/Choreographer), Angie Cocuzza (Director/Choreographer), Brinley Edwards (Music Director), Aubrey Colbert (Hair and Makeup Design), James Hartman (Set Design) and Todd Williams (Lighting Design). SHREK THE MUSICAL JR. is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
