New Signal at Ocean Heights and Blackman Road Initialized

New Signal at Ocean Heights and Blackman Road

On Tuesday, June 16, Atlantic County and Egg Harbor Township officials will mark the completion of improvements to the intersection of Blackman Road and Ocean Heights Avenue in Egg Harbor Township with the initialization of the full operation of a new traffic signal at 10 AM.

“These roadway improvements will help protect the safety of our residents and visitors through this heavily traveled area,” stated County Executive Dennis Levinson. “We greatly appreciated the public’s cooperation throughout construction and are pleased to bring this project to completion.”

In addition to the new signal, the $775,538 intergovernmental project includes new intersection pedestrian facilities, improved drainage systems as well as the widening of Ocean Heights Avenue to accommodate a dedicated northbound right turn lane and a dedicated southbound left turn lane onto Blackman Road. Concrete curbing, raised pavement markers and improved roadway striping and traffic signs were also included.

According to Egg Harbor Township Mayor Paul Hodson, this project is a great example of local governments working together to meet the needs of its communities.

“Our residents strongly advocated for a signal at this intersection and through this joint effort we were able to provide it,” said Hodson.
