Harry Hurley Named NJBA’s Inaugural “Broadcaster of the Year”!
For the first time in our association’s history, the New Jersey Broadcasters Association has selected a “Broadcaster of the Year”! This landmark inaugural award will be conferred upon Townsquare’s WPG Morning Host Harry Hurley. NJBA President & CEO Paul S. Rotella, Esq., tells us: “The NJBA Broadcaster of the Year is the most prestigious award to ever be given to a New Jersey Broadcaster and rewards excellence in broadcasting.” The essential criteria for consideration require that the recipient be an NJBA private broadcaster in good standing with a minimum of 15 years in the industry; Demonstrated a commitment to the highest standards of broadcast excellence; Demonstrated a unique and interactive relationship with their audience; Demonstrated community service and involvement in their role; Report or influence issues significant to their audience; Engage local, regional and statewide community, business and governmental leaders; Promote the broadcast industry and enthusiastically support and advance the NJBA’s industry advocacy and PEP initiatives; and, demonstrated extraordinary leadership and experienced significant successes throughout their career. Rotella said: “Harry Hurley has met all of the criteria outlined above with a high degree of professionalism and a passionate dedication to his craft, and the NJBA is very proud of our inaugural Broadcaster of the Year recipient!” The 2019 Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday June 13th, 2019 at the Tropicana Resort and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. Here’s Why NJBA is Wild About Harry
The criteria for our prestigious Broadcaster of the Year award are very stringent, so you can imagine how much of an impact our first recipient must have on our wonderful industry. Here’s a little bit about why Harry Hurley has earned this special recognition by our great association. Harry is the Morning Drive (6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) Host of the Hurley in the Morning Talk Radio Program since July 1, 1992 on WPG Talk Radio 104.1FM and 1450AM. For the past 4 consecutive years, Harry has been selected by Talkers Magazine as one of the 100 Most Important Talk Radio Hosts in America. Harry has moved up each year on this coveted industry list (# 100, # 70, # 60, # 57). Harry was also been selected as one of the Top 100 Most Powerful People in New Jersey named as the Garden State’s 17th Most Powerful Media Persons. Harry was elected to both the Philadelphia (2013) and New Jersey Broadcaster’s Association (2015) Radio Broadcasting Hall of Fame. Harry is also the political columnist for Shore Local News Magazine. Harry is a regular fill-in, on-air talent for Fox News Radio on all of their nationally syndicated platforms (Fox News Radio and Fox Nation television). Most notably, his charity, the Hurley in the Morning Charity has raised well over $ 800,000 and has directly provided much-needed grants for hundreds of not-for-profit charities over the past 12 years.
