Jerry Blavat’s Margate Night Club For Sale

Will the memories go on?

Memories in Margate, the dance club owned by legendary Philadelphia/South Jersey radio personality Jerry Blavat is officially for sale.

For 50 years Memories had been the summertime home of “The Geator with the Heater”. Thousands of fans over the years danced to Blavat’s spinning records at the Amherst Avenue establishment, cooling off with cold drinks among friends. Some loved Jerry Blavat’s Jersey Shore nightclub so much that they bought houses nearby so they could walk there, dance and shuffle back home.

A Facebook post last week by his longtime partner Keely Stahl acknowledged that Memories in Margate is on the market. She hopes the club can host a memorial for Blavat before the sale is finalized. “Best case scenario would be, as Jerry wished, for it to continue as the kind of club he ran for people to enjoy the kind of music he played and create new memories”, she said. “Let’s see what happens & intend for the best possible outcome,” added Stahl.

A news release sent by the executors of Blavat’s estate indicated that the purchase would include the property, contents within the property, Jerry Blavat’s one-of-a-kind record collection, and naming rights with some exclusions. No asking price was given. Proposals must be submitted to BuyMemoriesinMargate@gmail.com by May 19.

The energetic entertainer died on January 20. He was 82.
