HEROtini Challenge Enjoys Help from the Local Events

The HERO Campaign has seen no shortage of supporters when it comes to the “Summer of HEROes”, including one local artist who has combined his passion for painting with his commitment to supporting safe and sober driving.

Foodies and art lovers alike will have a chance to support the HERO Campaign through a unique opportunity at Steve & Cookie’s, where artist and beloved bartender, Jonathan Baker is raffling off one of his paintings in support of their HEROtini, “The Seedlip Summer Kiss”.

On display in the back Oyster Bar, Steve & Cookie’s patrons will recognize the familiar image of Lucy the Elephant, painted in the undulating brush strokes and bold colors, for which Baker is known. According to Baker, his decision to raffle off a painting is one way he can use his art to support the mission of the HERO Campaign and keep his patrons safe as they travel.

Launched by the John R. Elliott HERO Campaign over Memorial Day Weekend, the HEROtini Challenge is a summer-long contest between thirty-one Atlantic County restaurants and bars, challenging each to create the best “mocktail” in celebration of designated drivers.  Participating establishments have planned numerous events to promote their unique HEROtini, including a HEROtini sampling event at Dock’s Oyster House on July 30th, and a “Christmas in July” themed pop-shop and HEROtini tasting at Hi Point Pub on July 31st.

With the goal of significantly reducing (if not eliminating) DUI incidents in Atlantic County, The HEROtini Challenge is a donate-to-vote contest, the results of which will yield very tangible results for area residents and visitors, alike.  The funds raised will support the campaign’s Holiday HEROES Safe Ride Program, providing free and safe rides home locally for patrons of participating establishments over the 2019 holiday season (from Thanksgiving Eve to New Year’s Day), to prevent drinking and driving.

The contest lasts until August 29th, when the ultimate HEROtini Challenge winner will be announced at Linwood Country Club, where the final HEROtini Happening takes place. The establishment to raise the most in donations will take home the highly coveted HEROtini Cup.

To purchase a $10 raffle ticket for Jonathan Baker’s painting, visit the host at Steve & Cookie’s, or purchase at the Oyster Bar. The winning raffle ticket will be drawn shortly before the final HEROtini Happening, on August 29th.
