Heat Wave

Weather with Nor’easter Nick

By Nick Pittman

Summer is here! How many of you are excited about that? I’m sure there are a great number of you but there are also A LOT of us who are not fans of the high heat and humidity. We’ve jumped in with both feet essentially. Today marks the second day in what will probably turn out to be a 4 day heatwave. Now, a heat wave occurs when you’ve got 3 consecutive days at 90 or better. I think that’s easily doable. It’s important to remember to remain hydrated and avoid strenuous activities. If you’re working outside, take frequent breaks in the shade.

On another note we are uncharacteristically quiet on the tropical front. Not many years I can recall where we got 4 weeks into hurricane season and not have a SINGLE tropical disturbance anywhere in the northern hemisphere. Crazy! But that’s good. Saharan dust and high amounts of wind shear are to thank. Let’s hope that continues into the rest of the season, though don’t let your guard down, it’s still VERY early in the process.
