Health Benefits of Hydrogen Peroxide Therapy

By Dr. Sam Jonuzi

Hydrogen peroxide was discovered in 1818 by the French chemist Louis-Jacques Thenard. He believed that it was an oxygenated form of oxygen. It is not clear if he fully understood the enormous medical significance of his discovery.

Hydrogen peroxide is colorless, heavier than water, and has a larger liquid range. Interestingly, it is found higher concentrations in natural spring waters of many healing shrines, including Lourdes in Frances, Fatima in Portugal, and St. Anne’s in Quebec, Canada.

A pioneer of intravenous H2O2 therapy was Dr. Charles Farr. During the mid 1990’s, Farr made several important original clinical and experimental observations about intravenous hydrogen peroxide infusions. He documented short term effects of that therapy on various aspects of the immune system. One of his astute observations concerned the dramatic changes- up to 100% increase from the pre-infusion levels-in oxygen consumption rate. He clearly established the fact that biologic effects of that therapy cannot be merely attributed to the miniscule amounts of oxygen liberated from infused hydrogen peroxide. It is converted to water and single oxygen in the body.

The effect of singlet oxygen in the human body is two-fold. First, it kills, or severely inhibits the growth of, anaerobic organisms (bacteria and viruses which use carbon dioxide for fuel and leave as a by-product). This action is immediate, on contract with the anaerobic organism. Anaerobic bacteria are pathogens, the organisms that cause disease. All viruses are anaerobic.

The second effect of hydrogen peroxide is that it provides singlet oxygen, which in turn transforms biological waste products and industrial toxins into inert substances by oxidizing them. This makes them easy to handle for the kidneys and liver.  This increase in metabolism probably accounts for some of the anti-bacterial, antifungal, and anti-vital effects of hydrogen peroxide.

Hydrogen peroxide is one of the few simple “miracle” substances still available to the public. Most of us started on hydrogen peroxide shortly after birth. Not only does mother’s milk contain high amount of H202, the amount contained in the first milk (colostrums) is even higher. This seems only reasonable now that we know one of its main functions is to activate and stimulate the immune system. Although I am a strong supporter of H202 therapy, I am not suggesting that everyone needs to be using it. There are probably some individuals whose health and well-being would not be enhanced with hydrogen peroxide or they have been misinformed about its use.

The following are partial listings of conditions in which H202 therapy has been used successfully. (Many of these conditions are serious, if not life threatening. As always, I would highly recommend seeking the advice and guidance of a doctor experienced in the use of these techniques). Allergies, Headaches, Altitude Sickness, Herpes simplex, Alzheimer’s, Herpes Zoster, Anemia, HIV Infections, Liver Cirrhosis, Bronchitis, Lupus, Erythematosis, Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Candida Parasitic, Infections, Cardiovascular Disease, Parkinsonism, Cerebral Vascular Disease, Periodontal Disease, Diabetic Gangrene, Shingles, Diabetic Retinopathy, Sinusitis, Digestion Problems, Sore Throat, Epstein-Barr Infection, Ulcers, Emphysema Viral Infections, Food Allergies, Warts, Fungal Infections, Yeast Infections, and Gingivitis.

Research in the 1960’s at Baylor University showed conclusively that intra-arterial hydrogen peroxide dissolved plaques in large arteries. This makes H202 a wonderful complement to EDTA in the treatment of vascular disease as EDTA has been shown to clear small vessels and create collateral circulation around large vessel blockage. This combination is calledChelox Therapy. Conditions which can be treated with antibiotics but without the serious toxicity often associated with laboratory produced synthetic antibiotics. Hydrogen peroxide has a remarkable clearing effect on the skin. After only a few intravenous treatments the skin takes on a translucent clarity usually seen only in children.

The Infusion lasts 90 minutes. You will notice a warm feeling during treatment but not much more. The main effect of hydrogen peroxide infusions is that you regain your health. Treatments are one to three times per week, and just as with chelation therapy with EDTA the number of treatments depends on the nature of the illness you are dealing with. From 10 to 50 treatments will get the job done in most cases and you should be able to maintain with occasional intravenous infusion after that.

Hydrogen peroxide therapy is among the very few medical treatments that doctors, nurses, and practitioners do themselves. Almost every one of them takes their own treatments. Think about this, what do you think your doctor would say if you asked him/her if they take any of the treatments that they recommend?
