Family Game Night Fun

Mom’s Vibe
By Krystle J. Bailey

It’s summertime and the boardwalk and beaches are buzzing. Every now and again, we need a night to stay in and recover from the sun and sand. Family game nights are a beautiful way to unwind with the family while also having fun and spending quality bonding time. Order a pizza from a local eatery and let the competition roll.

Tips For a Successful Family Game Night:

Bring in all the snacks! Make it a night to break some rules, let your hair down, and have some fun. The kids won’t forget nights like these.

Lock away the technology. Put everyone’s cell phone away in a safe place so everyone can be fully present with the family.

Select games that are age appropriate for all children. Games that offer multi level skills are a great way to include all family members.

Take turns selecting games and block out enough time to finish each game in entirety.

Be present. These are the moments that are gone in a blink!

Check out these 5 fun family games for your next family game night:

Monopoly

The tried-and-true classic family game can easily be modified to accommodate family members of all ages. For a fun twist on an old favorite, check out the variety of new editions including Junior Monopoly, Sore Losers edition, Voice Banking edition, or Anti-Monopoly. There’s a Monopoly board for everyone to keep things exciting. Check out Hasbro.com for all available variations.

Kids Against Maturity

Considering it is probably frowned upon to play Cards Against Humanity with the kids, consider Kids Against Maturity for your next family game night. The game is played just like Cards Against Humanity with age-appropriate toilet humor and funny innuendos for the adults. Best played with 4 or more players, it is easily adaptable to family members of all ages.

Jumanji

This one might call for a movie and game night. Show the family an old classic or watch the new Jumanji movies featuring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart. Follow up the movie by bringing Jumanji to life in your home. Be careful though: Do not begin the game unless you intend to finish. We all know what could happen if you close the board!

LCR Dice Game

It’s never too soon to wager a little money with the LCR dice game. This game can be played with the chips that come in the box or with dollar bills for a little added fun. The object is simple. Roll the “left, right, and center” dice then pass your chips or dollars according to the dice’s direction. The person with the last chip collects the pot in the center. This game is fun in big groups and can offer a high reward!

You’re On Mute

After the countless Zoom meetings we’ve all experienced in 2020, there is no telling how many times the words “you’re on mute” have been spoken. In this comical new game, players take turns magnifying their mouths on the makeshift screen while their teammates try to read their lips. Just like that corporate meeting on Zoom, only way more fun.
