BRUTUS FLUKE TOURNAMENT

EHT Elks Lodge  1815 Somers Point-Mays Landing Rd.

This tournament, initiated in 1999 to honor the memory of Walter “the Brute” Gregory Sr, has become a yearly tradition for anglers of all ages. Tournament proceeds support both local veterans and handicapped children’s charities. The entry fee is $30 per angler and fishing may be done from boat, pier or beach. This year’s Brutus Tournament will feature $1,100 in cash prizes. Deadline for registration will be at the end of the 6:00pm Captain’s meeting on Friday, May 31st. SMITHVILLE COMIC BOOK SHOW

This show will include comic artists, writers and characters. Vendors will be set and selling all things comics from comic books to graphic novels, action figures to figurines and much more. Rain date is Sunday, June 2nd.

LE TOUR DE DOWNBEACH

Starting at Newport Ave. & the Boardwalk, Ventnor

Get your posy together for a morning of fun. Le Tour is a great way to kick off the start of summer. This family fun 14 mile bicycle tour begins each year in Ventnor riding down the boardwalk through Atlantic City, a police escort through Margate and Longport, ending with a barbecue to Tomatoes’ restaurant. The pre-registration cost is $20 per rider or $15 each for four or more family riders. Day of ride registration is $25 per rider or $20 each for a family of four. FUNNY FARM SUMMER FESTIVAL

The Funny Farm Summer Festival is one of our biggest and most anticipated events each year. Fun for the whole family, festivities include hay rides, face painting, games, basket raffles, vendors, food trucks, music and more. Spend a day with the animals up close and personal, do a little shopping, have a little lunch, all while supporting the Funny Farm Rescue and its over 500+ residents. Admission of $5 per person suggested.

SAM’S FUN RUN CAR CRUISE

Sunday, June 2nd from 9am-12pm

A classic car and motorcycle cruise will be held in memory of Sam Clerico to benefit the Atlantic County Toys for Kids Program. $20 per person with wristband includes dash plaque, buffet, beer, DJs and door prizes. Lineup begins at Somers Point Volunteer Fire Company 1 on Bethel Rd. at 9am with a 10am departure. Cruise will travel to Atlantic County Harley-Davidson, 219 E. White Horse Pike in Galloway. Coffee and donuts will be provided before departure at 11:30am. The cruise will finish at The Watering Hole, 6494 Weymouth Rd. Mays Landing.

OC HUMANE SOCIETY DOGGIE DASH AND BATHE TO SAVE

Sunday, June 2nd from 3-5pm

5th & 6th Street Beach and Boardwalk, Ocean City

You and your dog will not want to miss this event. Dip your dog in the ocean and bathe your dog on the boards to help save dogs. The barks are on the beach to help raise some bones for the Humane Society of Ocean City and their mission to help house, care and enrich the lives of animals while waiting to find their forever homes. Bathe to Save will be set up on the boards to get the sand and salt washed off your pup for a donation. All dogs must be kept on leash at all times. Owners must clean up after their dogs.

12TH ANNUAL PADDLE FOR A CAUSE

The Dean Randazzo Cancer Fund hosts its 12th Annual Paddle for a Cause. More than 100 stand-up and prone paddleboarders, in addition to competitors in other types of watercraft including outrigger canoes, surf-skis, kayaks and rowboats, will embark on a 22.5-mile journey designed to test competitors mentally and physically similar to someone battling cancer or an 8-mile race for less-seasoned paddlers. BUS TRIP TO AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE’S “JANE EYRE”

Beth Israel invites ballet lovers on a bus trip to see a matinee performance of Jane Eyre starring Misty Copeland, at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. The bus will depart at 8:30am from Beth Israel in Northfield and will leave New York after the performance at or about 5pm. Tickets for available now, starting at $100, and includes the ballet, bus fare and refreshments. There is also an opportunity to purchase just the bus seats and spend the day in New York.
