EHT’s ‘Unofficial’ Downtown Area Is Growing

Business Buzz

Egg Harbor Township is one of the largest municipalities in Atlantic County. However, it does not have an official downtown like other cities and towns. There is an area that appears to be evolving into the making of a typical downtown area, the intersection of Zion Road and Ocean Heights Avenue.

Over the recent years the area has added Walgreens, and Dollar General to complement the existing convenient food establishment, ACE Hardware store, service businesses along with the popular local golf courses and Julianos Bar and Restaurant. Harbor Village Square has been the staple retail/office center of the area for over 40 years. It seems to have attracted several new businesses recently. They like the feel of a Main Street.

Chris Ferry Insurance, a full-service Insurance Company since 1949 was in Linwood for over 40 years made the decision to locate at Harbor Village Square. “The Linwood location was great, but I wanted to move to my hometown. Harbor Village has that Main Street USA feeling. It has a perfect blend of commercial uses”, said Chris Ferry. CFI is a full lines Insurance Agency which offers homeowners, flood and auto insurance and commercial coverages for restaurants, retail businesses etc. The location is easily accessible to the clients.

Another entrepreneur who has seen the benefits of opening a business at Harbor Village Square is Fatima Nuredini. Fatima saw an opportunity and an open niche in the market for Balkan region, Mediterranean food. The name of the store is Balkan European Market. They offer food from many countries, and they are always adding food from new countries. They feature homemade pierogies from New York, Spinach pies, Cheese Pies and quite a few products that are vegan and much more. A few other countries they have food from are Greece, Turkey, Poland, Albania, Bulgaria and a few other countries. Stop by and find out why this store is so good. 609-788-0385.

So, a rumor is out and only a rumor, but from a reliable source that a Dunkin’ Donuts is opening at the site of former Ocean First Bank located at 2251 Ocean Heights Avenue next to Walgreen. Wow if true, this is a fantastic location. I think they will hit it out of the ballpark. It is an extremely heavily traveled corner location. The locals and the golfers will surely be frequent customers. Stay tuned and see if the rumor comes true.
