Custom Father’s Day Gifts from the Kids

Moms Vibe:
By Krystle J. Bailey

Father’s Day is next weekend, and if you’re anything like me, you’re scrambling to think of a meaningful gift from the kids. What do you buy the guy who has everything? Whether they like to admit it or not, dads are just as sentimental as we are, and watching the kids grow up before their eyes is tough. Capture their current age with a meaningful gift for dad this year. Check out these ideas to get you started.

Handprint Baseball

For the sports lover dad, your child’s handprint on a commemorative baseball or basketball is a great way to capture their current youth and shared love of sports with dad. An ink pad and ball of choice are all you need. For an added touch, pick up a protective case or stand from the craft store so dad can proudly display his gift. This poem from sunnydayfamily.com is the perfect compliment.

Handprint Hero Sign

Continuing with the handprint idea, work with the little ones to create a meaningful gift that can hang in your home forever. This “We have a hero; we call him daddy” sign from shanty-2-chic.com is a super simple gift idea for your kids’ hero. Customize it further with a hand written note, a personalized message, or a quote that feels perfect for your family.

Daddy Tackle Box

Celebrate the fishing dad in your life with a customized tackle box filled with his favorite candy. Keep it fishy with Swedish Fish and gummy worms, or choose treats that satisfy dad’s sweet tooth. Of course, the kids will probably eat most of the candy, but it’s the thought that counts and the box will leave a lasting memory.

Building Memories
with Dad

I love this idea from theseasonedmom.com! Grab a giant mason jar or another clear container, a Sharpie, and some big building blocks. Ask the little ones about all their favorite activities to participate in with their dad and write one idea on each block. Drop them all into the jar and give dad the gift of special memories. When a slow Sunday afternoon rolls around, Dad can choose an activity from the jar and begin literally and figuratively building memories. Stack the blocks together as each activity is completed.

Shrinky Dink Anything

Who doesn’t love a little Shrinky Dink fun? This classic craft is a perfect way to create something meaningful for dad this Father’s Day. Create handprint key chains, custom drawing key chains, or other personalized mementos. Some Shrinky Dink white paper and a little creative thinking are all you need for this meaningful project.

Have a great week, Shore Local Moms!
