Colony Club introduced to cardio drumming

Members of the Colony Club of Ocean City were introduced to an unusual fitness class at its October meeting—cardio drumming, led by certified instructors Judy Bonato and her daughter Valerie Gouse, who are also members of the Vineland Woman’s Club.

The routine, presented by the company “Drum 2Bfit,” is a high energy workout in which participants beat on exercise balls and perform various cardio moves such as stretching, bending and reaching to the rhythm of the music. “Members had a great time while moving to the beat during a fitness-friendly workout that promotes physical and mental health while having fun,” Bonato said.

Some of the club’s upcoming events include a beach cleanup on Oct. 21; a Beef ‘n Beer event at Maynard’s in Margate, also on Oct. 21; a fund raiser at Mario’s in Ocean City on Nov. 7; and participation in the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce annual Welcome Night on Oct. 25 in which newcomers can meet with people from various businesses and organizations.

The Colony Club is a member of the N.J. State Federation of Women’s Clubs and the national group, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. It is a volunteer, non-sectarian, non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to developing projects that improve the community.
