Going Places with Dina Guzzardo
Back in February, Governor Murphy made history in New Jersey by signing a bill that made cannabis use legal for adults over the age of 21 in the state, becoming one of fourteen states to do so. In light of this, Geek Time Entertainment will be hosting Atlantic City’s first lifestyle event for the growing cannabis market from Friday, June 25th through the early hours of Monday, June 28th at Showboat Atlantic City (801 Boardwalk). This three-day event will feature vendors, live music, professional wrestling, comedy shows, food trucks, nightclubs, and a lot more! The entire weekend has a jam-packed schedule with non-stop action.
The convention event hours begin at 2 pm on Friday and 10 am on Saturday and Sunday, running until 11 pm on each night. The comedy club will run on Friday and Sunday night in the Bourbon room from 11:30 pm and the cover is only $20 for an entire night of laughs. Featured comedians include the aptly named Laura High, Kevin Garifo, Tony Watson, and Biranna Bennozich. Live performances will take place in both the Food Truck area and the Bourbon Room of the Showboat. Some of the highlights of the weekend include Jah People from 7-10 pm on Friday in the Food Truck Area, an appearance by former WWE star Alex Riley (Kevin Kiley) on Saturday afternoon, and Il Rendition will be performing one of two shows to close the live music for the weekend on Sunday from 8:30-10 pm.
The speaker room/smoke deck schedule has some noteworthy events lined up for the weekend, including a shocked boxes zapping seminar from 6-7 pm on Friday; cannabis yoga with Angel Montgomery from 10:45-11:45 am on Saturday and Sunday; a talk by Dr. Volpe from Good Vibe Medical, a multidisciplinary, integrative medical practice which believes in building health and preventing disease rather than treating one that has already occurred; and expert rolling classes at the end of each evening so you can learn to roll the perfect zoot.
The pro wrestling organized by Queens based promotion company, ICW, is guaranteed to draw in huge crowds with several major fights scheduled including a main event between Phil Baroni and Justin Kyle. The wrestling will also be available on IWTV for those who are unable to make it down to the live event; however, from the promotional photos, this looks like it will be carnage and you won’t want to miss it live in action.
After a full day of blazing, the munchies are going to be kicking in and Boardwalk Budz has you covered with a large selection of food vendors on site. Some of the food vendors include Twisted Steaks who serve mouth-watering cheesesteaks with a twist, Chef Sheed’s BBQ shack for a selection of epic BBQ, and Cold Stone Creamery for a delicious choice of gourmet ice cream.
Also taking place is Larry Legends Legendary Speed Dating on Saturday and Sunday from 1pm-3pm which is completely free with convention admission; you may just find your bud for life. There will be an adult game room (21+) which will feature a range of R rated board games, including Trailer Park Boys Opoly, You’ve Got Crabs, and Bob Marley’s game of Peace, Love, and Unity. For those who want to rock the stage themselves, Kronik Karaoke will be hosted by Riley Madison and Shane Fair all weekend.
The weekend doesn’t stop there though as there are several club nights lined up for those who want to continue the party. The pre-party kicks off on Thursday from 11 pm at Stiletto (85 South Carolina & the Boardwalk) and will be open every night of the weekend until 6 am for the hardcore partiers. A cannabis nightclub hosted by DJ Vito G will take place on Saturday in the Bourbon Room of the Showboat from 11 until 4 pm.
One-day general admission passes are only $25 which includes all the highlights of the weekend, and a three-day pass gives you a discount at only $60. To make the most of the weekend and experience everything there is on offer, I recommend going for the Boardwalk Budz VIP pass which includes everything in the general admission pass, plus free admissions to the Comedy Club on Friday and Sunday, the cannabis nightclub event on Saturday, and the wrestling across the entire weekend.
