Sunday school students in kindergarten through sixth grade celebrated Chanukah at Beth Israel with traditional games and treats.
Rabbi David M. Weis shared the story of Chanukah. The youngest students made a Hanukkiah (menorah) out of pretzels and candy. All students played dreidel and enjoyed sufganiyot, the traditional donuts of the holiday. The children took home bags filled with dreidels, chocolate coins known as gelt, and Chanukah candles.
The largest Reform congregation in the area, Beth Israel is a warm and welcoming home to generations of families who play a vital and integral part in synagogue life. Accommodating to all types of modern Jewish families, Beth Israel welcomes members wherever they may be found on their personal Jewish journey.
