Atlanticare Launches “Our Hearts Are in It” Three-Year Campaign Aimed at Engaging Community Around Heart Health

AtlantiCare’s Heart and Vascular Institute today launched “Our Hearts Are In It,” a three-year campaign aimed at engaging the southern New Jersey community in preventing deaths from cardiovascular disease. AtlantiCare kicked off the initiative through social media using #OurHeartsNJ.

A recent analysis by The Wall Street Journal looked at heart disease death rates in the U.S. It found that the Atlantic City – Hammonton, N.J. region tied for second highest metro area rate increase in the country of deaths due to cardiovascular disease in middle age (25.7 percent).

As a result, AtlantiCare created “Our Hearts Are In It” to expand on its commitment to healing the hearts of residents of southern New Jersey.

The first step of the campaign is encouraging southern New Jersey residents to take AtlantiCare’s online Heart Risk Assessment.

Through a series of ongoing events and outreach, AtlantiCare will aim to attract as many community members as possible in making lifestyle changes critical to preventing heart attack and stroke. In addition to people taking the Heart Risk Assessment, AtlantiCare hopes this campaign will motivate them to book free heart and vascular Dare to C.A.R.E. screenings.

“Next year, we will embark on our 20th year as the region’s only full-service cardiac surgery program,” said James Dralle, M.D., chief of cardiovascular surgery, AtlantiCare. “The Our Hearts Are In It initiative will expand upon the work we have long been doing to prevent heart disease in the region. And, it might help lower rates of cardiovascular death in the process.”
