AtlantiCare Hosts 13th Annual Red Dress/Red Tie Reception for American Heart Month

The Heart and Vascular Institute at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC) hosted its thirteenth annual Red Dress/Red Tie Reception on February 12. Approximately 300 people attended the American Heart Month event at the Smithville Inn in Historic Smithville.

Proceeds will benefit the ARMC Heart Heroes Program, an AtlantiCare Foundation-funded program that places automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in the community. Donated on behalf of the Heart Institute at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, the AEDs can restore a normal heart rhythm during cardiac arrest.

The AtlantiCare Heart Heroes Program began in 2002, spurred by a small group of dedicated AtlantiCare volunteers who were known as “The Heart Heroes,” who raised funds to help AtlantiCare make AEDs available in the community. Through the program, AtlantiCare Heart Hero funds cover half of purchase price of the AED and the requesting organization covers the other half. In some cases, other organizations donate the matching funds. In some cases, AtlantiCare has covered the full cost of the AEDs. Applications for the Heart Heroes Matching Funds Program are available on AtlantiCare’s website.
