A Women’s History Celebration

A Women’s History Celebration

By Raymond Tyler

On the second Sunday of the month, ‘The Light’ sponsors The Arts & Music Mixer. We bring leaders, creators, newbies, veterans and art lovers together to celebrate. Our theme this month is A Women’s History Celebration!

This month’s mixer promises to be one of our most exciting. On stage we’ll welcome recording artist April “Chocolate Girl” Williams, Miss Nelson, SAGE,  Sharon Hollingsworth, Veronica kennedy and a new singer songwriter duet Jacki and Jayla.

NEW! We have The Writer’s Pad where authors and publishers will host exclusive book signings. Attendees can meet Dr. John E Grey, Jazmine Moore, Khalidah J. Hunter, Shanay McGiver Brown, Sharon Hollingsworth, and the comic book /graphic novel publishers Redonkulous Entertainment. Writers, artists and photographers that are interested in being published should arrive early!

New! Also new this month will be our Artists Pad. A section where artist and aspiring artists can create their own masterpiece’s live. We’ll have select supplies. We’re asking you to create the magic. The Art’s Pad is sponsored by Officially Inside Out and The Little Wellness Arts Programs.

The afternoon also includes shopping with exclsuive vendors. There will be information on the 2020 Census and how you can get a job as a Census taker. Blessings Way Behavioral Health will have information concerning dealing with stress and anxiety.

Most importantly, we will accept in kind donations for The Food Bank and The Covenant House. The money from the admission will go to developing free/low cost festival style events this summer. In The future we are looking to also help our local veterans.

At 5pm the networking party starts. Bring your business cards and connect with people that can help you change the world.

We want to thank our sponsors Aim High Solutions, Blessings Way Behavioral Health and Tailored Tutoring.

The Bourre offers free parking, free Bourre lemon shots for the first 10 ladies, $5 food and drink Happy Hour from 4pm to 6pm. The Light will be giving out door prizes including jewelry and t-shirts.
