A Surprise Snowfall Hits The Shore

A Surprise Snowfall Hits The Shore

Weather with Nor’easter Nick

BWow! The first snow of the season for folks east of Hammonton. Awesome to see… if you’re a snow lover, of course. Often times I come to you and tell you why a forecast didn’t verify and what went wrong. That’s not the case this time. Outside of a couple small surprises, it pretty much worked out as thought. What we dealt with is called a Norlun Trough. The actual storm was several hundred miles southeast of our region but the inverted trough extended well northwest of the center and allowed snow to develop in our backyards.

These situations are VERY fickle to nail down but i think we did a good job. My original forecast on Tuesday was for 1-3” to fall, I updated it to 4” along the coast on Wednesday morning. Outside of s few areas that saw slightly higher totals, most fell within range. More snow to come early next week? I’m watching a storm that has potential to pull north along the coast and bring substantial snow to Virginia. The jury is still out on if we will see any impact from it, but I believe the chance still does certainly exist!
