It’s hard to believe that Bernie Robbins Jewelers, the region’s leading luxury jeweler, began as a diamond in the rough. Established in 1962 by Bernie and Lorraine Rosenberg, the now purveyor of exquisite jewelry and fine Swiss timepieces was, in fact, an appliance store in downtown Philadelphia. When Harvey Rovinsky joined the enterprise a few years after its founding, he proved a valuable addition. Harvey married Rosenberg’s daughter Madalyn and, together with Bernie, helped steward the company through a series of incarnations. In 1992, Harvey, in partnership with Maddy, transformed Bernie Robbins Jewelers into a rare gem, now with five locations in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, and a stature to match the designers and collections in its elegant and experience-driven stores.
When it comes to watches, Bernie Robbins Jewelers is positively prime time. “The Bernie Robbins name has always been synonymous with quality and exemplary service,” says Michael Benavente, managing director, Bulova and Luxury Brands. “Our goal as we relaunched the Accutron brand in 2020 was to partner with best-in-class elite jewelry retailers.” In so doing, Bernie Robbins carries Accutron’s highly collectible 18K Spaceview 2020 Limited Edition timepiece ($19,600). With just 60 individually numbered models available, these precision engineered pieces are powered by proprietary next-generation electrostatic energy movement and flaunt a silver-grey open-face dial with light-green, super-luminous markers, gilt hour and minute hands, as well as an orange second hand. The Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch, 40 mm, steel interchangeable bracelet ($6,300) is another one to watch.
