Support rescue of injured and sick marine mammals and sea turtles this Giving Tuesday

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center Needs Funds To Save Sea Life

At a time when they desperately need donations, The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is hoping to gain support through #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media.

For over four decades, The Marine Mammal Stranding has been the only organization in New Jersey dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sick and injured marine mammals and sea turtles.  To date, staff and volunteers from the MMSC have responded to more than 5,860 calls for seals, dolphins, whales, and sea turtles that washed ashore along all of New Jersey’s beaches.  The non-profit is only able to do this important work thanks to the support of the community and generous donations.  Now, the MMSC which does so much to help animals in need, needs help to continue their mission.

Two grey seals recovering in the MMSC’s pool, one pup diagnosed with a cardiac issue and the second pup with visual impairment. Unable to survive wild due to their medical conditions, the “Grey Girls” stayed at MMSC for over 5 months until permanent placement was found for them at two zoological facilities where they will receive lifelong veterinary care, enrichment, and the companionship of other seals.

When you donate to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center, you are supporting the life-saving work to rescue marine mammals and sea turtles. In these challenging times, donations are not keeping up with ever-growing expenses. Without your help to keep the Stranding Center going, there would be no other options for sick and injured animals that strand on New Jersey beaches. Please consider donating to the MMSC this holiday season, and remember that every donation makes a difference, no matter the size!

They are hoping that the community will rally and help them bit-by-bit raise enough funds that will allow them to continue doing what they do best – rescue, rehabilitate and release sick and injured marine mammals.

#GivingTuesday is observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, and kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

Donation options are open now to accommodate the busy holiday season. Please support the Marine Mammal Stranding Center on #GivingTuesday 11/29/2022 or earlier by making a donation at www.mmsc.org .
