Cape May, NJ – March 2, 2023 – Sturdy Savings Bank announces the second annual Run Wild 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk on Sunday, April 23 at the Cape May County Park & Zoo.
Proceeds from this year’s race will benefit the Cape May County Park & Zoo and Family Promise of Cape May County.
“We are excited to bring the community together at this unique venue in support of the Zoo and Family Promise of Cape May County,” said Bank President and CEO Gregory Matuson.
The Run Wild 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk route will take runners and walkers THROUGH the world-famous Zoo. Zoo gates will open at 8 a.m., before it opens to the public, providing racers and walkers with an opportunity to “run wild’ among the zoo animals.
Early bird registration, available through Sunday, April 9, is $40 for the 5K Run and $25 for the Walk. After April 9 registration will be $45 and $30, respectively. Registration is now open at this link. Early registration is encouraged as the number of confirmed registrants is well over 100 racers/walkers already. A FREE 200-yard dash for kids 8 and under, and a free ¼-mile dash for kids 12 and under, will take place following the 5K Run/Walk. Kids do not need to pre-register – just show up, run, and have fun.
Awards will be given to the top three female and male finishers, and to the winners in designated age groups. Pre-race packets will be available for pickup on Saturday, April 22 during the Cape May County Earth Day Fair taking place at the Zoo. Day-of-race packet pickup and in-person check-in will take place from 7-7:50 a.m. to ensure an on-time race start at 8 a.m.
The inaugural race event in 2022, launched to celebrate Sturdy Savings Bank’s centennial, brought runners from all over the state and beyond, with over 300 runners and walkers traversing the course that took them around and through the zoo.
