Shore Medical Center Communications Supervisor Terri Jones of Egg Harbor Township Receives Leadership Profile Award

Shore Medical Center announced today that Communications Supervisor Natalie “Terri” Jones of Egg Harbor Township is the recipient of its prestigious Leadership Profile Award. The award goes to a manager who exhibits exemplary job performance and possesses characteristics most valued in its leaders.

Jones came to the Shore Medical Center telecommunications department in 2000, where she learned the technical and vendor management side of the telecommunications department’s operations under her predecessor. In 2018, she had the opportunity – and the necessary skills and experience – to accept the position of Communications Supervisor.

As Communications Supervisor, Jones oversees all of the telecommunications needs of the medical center, including the telephone system, faxing, copying, printing and mailroom. In a hospital, each of these are high-volume areas that play a critical role in its ability to provide quality patient care.

Jones adeptly manages a team of full-time, part-time and PRN staff, which includes the telephone operators who work around the clock answering calls and assisting patients, family members, physicians, nurses and others in communicating important information. Jones and her team also manage the in-house emergency code system that helps our staff respond quickly in serious situations.

Additionally, Jones is also responsible for troubleshooting all telecommunications issues throughout the Shore Medical Center campus, and ensures phones are set up quickly for new staff and staff who change roles. She also manages the incoming and outgoing mail and postage for the entire hospital, and along with her staff, they are always ready to help with printing and copying projects at a moment’s notice.

Fred Banner, Chief Information Officer, says Terri’s knowledge, solid people skills, her desire for professional growth, and a passion to serve others make her a great leader.

“Terri has experienced significant change in our telecommunications systems and the needs of our patients, their families and our providers over the years. She has managed it well to ensure a smooth and efficient service operation. Most recently, Terri played a key role in transitioning our legacy phone system to a new platform that delivers robust telecommunications capabilities to meet current and future needs of our medical center,” Banner said. “Her contributions past and present are a testament to her dedication to our medical center’s mission, making her an ideal candidate for this recognition.”

Jones was surprised and touched to receive this award, saying, “Shore has been family to me for over 20 years. I would not be where I am today without the support of my fellow coworkers. Their willingness to work as a team has made my job enjoyable.  I am so thankful to receive this award; it means the world to me.”

Jones lives in Egg Harbor Township with her husband and two sons. They enjoy family nights cooking together and watching movies, and in the summer, they enjoy going to the beach whenever possible.
