Galloway Township Police and Atlantic County Sheriff’s Officers Perform Life Saving Measures

Galloway Township, NJ –   Sheriff Scheffler’s Hope One and Hope Exists members have been participating in the Point In Time, a 7-day national count of people experiencing homelessness or at risk. They are trying to survey as many as possible to offer resources and help with the count for funding purposes. They coordinated with many agencies to capture everyone they could and will continue to count through Wednesday, February 1st.

During the early morning on Friday, January 27th, Lindsey Komar coordinated with members of the Galloway Police Department to survey people living in tents in the woods in Galloway, NJ. When they arrived and met officers there, they found a man suffering from an overdose.Det. Matthew Worth helped Det. Sgt. Kiamos drag the man out of his tent, made from a tarp. Lindsey Komar and Patrick Reece from Hope One and Hope Exists Community Health Workers quickly jumped into action and provided the life-saving medication Narcan, a medication used to revive patients who have overdosed on opioids. Det. Dominic Fabrizio administered the Narcan. Galloway EMS arrived on the scene, and Chief Chuck Yool administered oxygen. The man began to regain consciousness due to the heroic actions of all involved. Their quick actions played a major role in the recovery of the patient.  Luckily, the man was revived and was taken to the hospital for further assessment.

“On behalf of the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office and the Hope Exists Foundation, I would like to commend the Galloway Township Officers for their heroic actions in saving the man’s life. Our community is proud of our law enforcement and grateful for our uniformed officers and emergency services who knowingly put their lives on the line to protect others in the line of duty,” Sheriff Eric Scheffler.
