THURSDAY, April 27 – SUNDAY, April 30
The cast and crew of the Egg Harbor Township High School is preparing to perform a “tale as old as time” with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Performances of this Broadway musical, which is based on the classic Disney motion picture, take place at the school’s Performing Arts Center from Thursday, April 27, through Sunday, April 30. Show times are 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The musical is comprised of nearly 100 students in the cast and crew. Student musicians also play in the show’s pit orchestra.
Director Matthew Guenther, who also teaches German at Egg Harbor Township High School, says he is excited to present a musical with such widespread appeal. “We wanted to produce a show that whole families and the community could enjoy. From the professional costumes we are renting to the special effects we are using, we are really pulling out all the stops to make this an incredible experience for our audiences, cast, and crew.”
Several of the roles are double-cast, due to the large number of students involved in the show. Featured actors include Emma Cortes and Maya Mills-Favinger as Belle and JP Hammer as The Beast. Jonathan Castro and Ethan Forman share the role of Lumiere, while Jenna Johnston and Janaleicia Smith portray Mrs. Potts. Brooklynn Conley plays Chip. Gaston is played by Jamar Felder and Yoabey Dilan Aquino. Erin Maegerle and Satya Byers play Babette. Cogsworth is portrayed by Ephraim Smith and Dallas Smith. Lefou and Madame de la Grande Bouche are played by Aidan Moss and Tasmiah Haque, respectively. Andrew Genovese and Jeffrey Taylor share the role of Maurice.
The production team members are Director Matt Guenther, Crew Advisor Kevin McCafferty, Vocal Director Richard Tinsley, Costumer Leslie Volpe, Orchestra Conductor Ben Fong, Producer Jason Kristeller, Choreography Assistant Margot Schoeffel, and Sound Specialist Jim Bates.
The production is rated G. Tickets are on sale now at ehths.booktix.com. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
