The Atlantic City Marathon Race Series had their Bungalow Beach Boardwalk 5 Miler presented by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, June 3 at 8am. Unlike other races, the course took runners from the boardwalk to the beach with under 400 feet of running in the sand before reaching the finish line. Over 700 hundred runners attended the event and live music was provided on the race route, keeping runners and volunteers energized.
The racecourse started in Atlantic City at Iowa Ave. with 5 miles on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City and Ventnor, NJ. Runners finished at Atlantic City’s Bungalow Beach, an Ibiza style beach bar that held the post race party. Runners 21 and over enjoyed a free Michelob Ultralight beer and awards were given to the top overall finishers and age group winners at the oceanfront beach bar.
“The Bungalow Beach Boardwalk 5 Miler presented by Tito’s Handmade Vodka is an event we look forward to each year. We see this event as part of our kick-off to summer season, here at our Beach Bar. We are honored to be the official host of the post-race party and award ceremony where runners gather to celebrate their accomplishments,“ said Dino Dounoulis, co-owner of Bungalow Beach Atlantic City.
The award winners included overall female finishers Christina Chang in 3rd place with a time of, 35:46, Jessica LaPorta in 2nd place with a time of 35:29 and 1st place female finisher Jessica Rosetti with a time of 33:35. Overall male finishers were Joe Iovanisci in 3rd with a time of 30:56 , 2nd place male finisher Stephen Augustyn with a time of 30:10, and Dan Forry in 1st place with a time of 27:38 .
Over a hundred volunteers assisted with the race and hundreds of spectators showed their support of the Bungalow Beach Boardwalk 5 Miler runners. Event sponsors include CRDA, Bungalow Beach, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, AmeriHealth and Michelob Ultra.
